Build Your Home Library Using Library and Educational Services LLC

Allow me to share with you how to build your home library using Library and Educational Services LLC. My family recently reviewed a bonanza of their excellent books and resources.

Having never used this company, I was pleasantly surprised by how much they have to offer—from paperback books to books with reinforced, hardcover library binding. They carry Bibles, CDs and DVDs as well.

In this post, I’ll introduce you to Library and Educational Services and tell you something extremely special about them.

Then, I’ll briefly highlight the great products my family received which were:

The paperback book from the New York Times best-selling series: What Was the Holocaust?

The Lifehouse Theater CD: Hiding in Plain Sight.

Two sets of hardcover books: Primary Sources-Famous People in America and History’s Greatest Warriors.

Another hardcover book: The One Year Book of Amazing Stories-365 Day Devotional.

Who is Library and Educational Services LLC?

They are a family-owned, wholesale distributer who sells to libraries, specialty stores, ministries, and schools, including homeschools. Based in Michigan for forty years, they ship worldwide, including to military bases.

In addition to the wonderful customer service and products I received, I was impressed with something else special that sets them apart.

How many wholesale distributors do you know who stand by a similar claim as this?

“The CDs, DVDs, and books we choose to distribute are carefully selected to ensure they are not contradictory to Biblical standards and values.”

Library Educational and Services
What Do They Carry?

Library and Educational Services LLC carry books of the same quality you’d find in your public library. They have reinforced hardcover library binding.

In addition to the biographies, history books, devotionals and Bibles, Library and Educational Services also carry books on geography, nature, science, social studies, careers and sports.

There are books, CDs, and DVDs for children, teens, and adults.

The Homeschool Review Crew members were provided with their choice of one Who Was… book, one Lifehouse Theater CD, and a choice from the Reinforced Hardcover Library Binding Nonfiction books.

With an offering of over 300 nonfiction books, I had a hard time deciding what to order! Thankfully, since the prices are so affordable, I’ll order again soon. I want to build a home library we will enjoy using, even when our homeschooling years are done.

Who Was…?  and What Was…? Books

The company carries 150 titles in the ever-popular, Who Was…? And What Was…? Series.

We ordered What Was the Holocaust? This 112 page paperback book is for grades 3 – 7.

Our eighth grader used this book as an easy summer read. He said due to the content, he thought the book was best for 5th grade and up, but every child is different in what they can handle.

I think this book would also make a great book for older students who struggle with reading. The content is meaty enough for middle school, but the wording is similar to a fourth or fifth grade reading level.

There are also black-and-white illustrations on almost every page which helps to hold interest. We also appreciated the photographs, the timeline, and the bibliography.

As much as we’ve studied WWII, we still learned some new things in this book!

Lifehouse Theater CDs

With several Lifehouse Theater productions to choose from, we finally settled on In Plain Sight since we studied about slavery last year. The story on the CD was one we had not heard before.

It was “an amazing true story of fugitive slaves, William and Ellen Craft, and their astonishing 1848 journey toward freedom. This suspenseful dramatization of the couple’s daring and ingenious plan to avoid detection during their dangerous escape by train and boat from Georgia to New England and ultimately to Europe offers a poignant and powerful look at historic events in nineteenth-century America.”

My family listened to this after dinner one evening. The lively sound effects and talented voice actors of Lifehouse Theater captured our attention. For younger children, you may need to break up the 70-minute CD into two listening segments.

We also took advantage of the free curriculum download that went along with the CD.

Hardcover Library Binding Nonfiction Books

We ordered two series of books with the reinforced hardcover library binding.

Since I’m a huge fan of primary sources, I was ecstatic about the eleven volumes of Primary Sources Famous People in America. The 32-page books are written for grades 2 – 8. The large type is suitable for younger students but the vocabulary is challenging enough for older students. The content was presented in an interesting way for all those grade levels. Even I learned some new things. Our set included books about Cochise, Davy Crockett, Wyatt Earp, and others.

I loved the photographs, the timeline, and the glossary—and of course, the list of primary sources!

The second series of hardcover books we ordered were the History’s Greatest Warriors. The five books included Ninjas: Masters of Stealth and Secrecy, Gladiators: Battling in the Arena,  Knights: Warriors of the Middle Ages and others. They tell the fascinating history of these warriors.

These 48-page books have the large print as well, but contain more challenging words and content than the Primary Sources series. This series is written for grades 4 – 8.

Again, we appreciated the colorful photos. Included are a glossary and pages listing sources where more information can be located.

My son said his favorite from this series was the book on knights.

My Favorite Hardcover Book

My favorite hardcover book that we ordered is The One Year Book of Amazing Stories by Robert Petterson. It’s filled with fascinating, true stories coupled with Bible verses which inspire thought and life changes. We plan to use this for after-dinner reading. It will also make a great resource to draw from for public speaking.

My Recommendation

I highly recommend using Library and Educational Services to build your library. The wholesale prices are amazing—usually 30% – 70% off, or more. I ordered books in addition to the free books they sent for me to review.

The books will make a great addition to any library. Their quality in content and design ensures them as long-lasting treasures.
