CRPS Awareness: Chronic Pain Requires Courage
According to nccih.nih.gov, more than 25.3 million Americans experience chronic pain. Out of those, approximately 200,000 are diagnosed with CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome). November is CRPS Awareness Month. Prior to 2014, I had never heard of CRPS. It’s taken me this long to come to terms with this chronic neuroinflammatory disorder. I still don’t fully understand it. Because there are so many CRPS warriors whose suffering is so much greater, I’ve hesitated to even mention mine. However, it is because of those who are suffering greatly, that I want to participate in CRPS Awareness Month. Chronic pain sufferers, as well as their families, require courage. Cribb – OLD ABE {Book Review}
No matter how much you learned about Abraham Lincoln in your last American History class, there’s more to appreciate in John Cribb’s book, OLD ABE: A Novel. Go virtual with Write2Ignite and Joyce Hostetter! If you're unfamiliar with these two fabulous names, then please allow me to share a little about them with you. One of those was the privilege of taking a writing class taught by the award-winning author, Joyce Moyer Hostetter. Her presentation: “Telling the Truth Through Fiction” and the resources she gave were . . .

Teaching Children About Face Masks Brings Comfort
Teaching children about face masks brings them comfort when they encounter others wearing them and when they must wear one. The first time my two-year-old grandson saw me in a face mask he was unusually quiet. It took him a little while to warm up to me. Whether it’s due to coronavirus or another health issue, as children venture out, they will encounter people wearing masks. It’s one thing to see a physician wear one, but it can be perplexing to a young child who sees the grocery store clerk, the pizza delivery guy, and even Grandma wearing a face mask. Some children don’t like it. Since babyhood, they’ve formed…

2 Generals & 4 Presidents Transformed 1 Purple Heart
Do you know how 2 generals and 4 presidents transformed 1 Purple Heart? The oldest award for valor, which almost disappeared from existence, has now been awarded to almost two million people. All Purple Hearts, while presented by various military officials, are bestowed on behalf of the president of the United States. The award has changed over the years. There have been several National Defense Authorization Acts that have affected the Purple Heart as well as the Purple Heart Family Equity Act. However, this post emphasizes specifically how two generals and four presidents have transformed the Purple Heart. The first general didn't actually transform it. He created it...
