Sweet Tea and Thee Book Review and Giveaway
Are you looking for a bit of refreshment for your soul? Check out my review of Sweet Tea and Thee: 90 Devotions to Perk Up Your Day to see if this book will be swinging with you on your front porch soon. BroadStreet Publishing released this book this month and they sent me an extra copy to give away to one of you!
The Author
“It’s been said Linda Kozar has ‘southern charm and biblical insight that will bless your heart, ‘and that she ‘shares the perfect brew of inspirational quotes, scriptural truth, daily guidance, and homespun humor.”
Kozar, an award-winning author of several fiction and nonfiction books.
You can learn more about her at www.lindakozar.com. I enjoyed reading her “About” page. There’s a heartwarming note there about how she collects in a jar the daily “treasures” found by her mom, who has dementia.
Kozar and her husband live in Texas and enjoy spending time with their family.
About Sweet Tea and Thee
This cute book has a fun, embossed cover with gold lemon wedges and green mint leaves surrounding a glass of sweet tea, of course! It is approximately 5 x 7 inches and is a handy size to carry in a purse or tote bag.
The ninety devotions are undated. Each opens with one or two scripture verses and a brief but rich devotion. The scriptures are taken from these versions of the Bible: NKJV, KJV, NIV, ESV, AMP, NLT.NCV, TLB, NASB, MSG, and BSB.
Following the main devotion, there is a “Sweet Spoonful” of additional hope—a final thought to ponder or apply to life.
Also included within the book are inspirational quotes from Rush Limbaugh, Dolly Parton, C.S. Lewis, Charles Spurgeon, Oswald Chambers, and more.
Scooch Over for a Southern Devotion
The devotions have a southern flair to them, which speaks to my upbringing. Devotion #38 is titled “Scooch.” The quote by Victoria Jamieson says,
“I think one of the nicest feelings in the world has to be someone scooching over for you.”
The scripture provided is Hebrews 13:1-2 which addresses hospitality. The devotion gives several examples of scooching over to make room for someone.
The “Sweet Spoonful” encourages readers to scooch over and make room for one more at the Master’s table. This could be your church pew for church visitors or for the “time-challenged brothers and sisters.”

Recommendation and Giveaway
Sweet Tea and Thee would make a lovely gift for Mother’s Day or a birthday or simply as a little encouragement gift. I can see it given to a hostess or tucked in a welcome basket for a new neighbor.
It’s probably more geared toward women, but men will also enjoy these meaty and sometimes humorous devotionals. Perhaps read it out loud to your spouse while you sit a spell and sip on sweet tea.
