Remember the “Let’s Roll” Attitude of 9/11
Our two oldest children were nine and seven years old on September 11, 2001. They remember. But, our youngest child wasn’t born yet. I want him to know about the “let’s roll” attitude of Todd Beamer and that of so many other people on 9/11 and the days following. Let’s remember to tell the next generation those stories. The History Channel produced a documentary, The Days That Shaped America: September 11th presenting personal accounts of that horrific day. We hear from an employee at the World Trade Center, a staff member of the Pentagon, and the 911 operator who took the call from Todd Beamer and who heard his rally…

by Sally Matheny How do you deal with a child’s repeated misbehavior? Whether it’s disrespect, dishonesty, or a despicable attitude, you’d think they’d get tired of listening to the same lecture about the error of their ways. Or the penalties, which increase in severity with each infraction, would finally produce the desired behavior. Alas, any improvement seems temporary. So, how do we deal with a child’s repeated misbehavior? Whether the child is six or sixteen, too often, parents hear their kids say, “But I didn’t understand” or “I didn’t hear you” or something similar. Half the time we don’t believe that, but to close any loopholes, consider following through…

Life-Changing Book Brought Me Home
by Sally Matheny Not long ago, I was asked to participate in a blog hop for the online magazine, Books Make a Difference. I was asked to share how a particular book has made a difference in my life. The problem lies in narrowing it down to one book! Books have influenced my whole life. But when I was thirty-years-old, there was a book which was life-changing for me. Blessed with Children My life brimmed with children—twenty -eight kindergarten students during the day, and my own two toddlers at night. In addition to His Holy Word, God used another book to drastically change that number of children and to…
